My name is Harrison King, a private equity associate at The Carlyle Group in the Technology, Media, and Communications Group. I was previously an analyst in Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate Investment Banking Group, having graduated from Cornell University in 2020.

I created this website as a roadmap to help all candidates, especially those that are diverse, with the application process for a position in private equity. It is an opaque journey that is often confusing unless you have access to hundreds or even thousands of dollars to hire consultants. It is through this website that I hope to enable access, free of charge, allowing all to prepare and participate on an even playing field. Everyone, no matter the racial or economic background, deserves a chance to achieve their professional aspirations -- limits to knowledge should not be the prohibiting factor.

Having gone through on-cycle private equity recruiting myself, I wish that there was a central resource to prepare and understand the process in a cost effective manner without having to spend hundreds of dollars.

To help close this preparatory access gap and advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, I helped create and establish the Carlyle Collegiate Series, a program dedicated to teaching undergraduates and recent graduates, especially those who come from diverse backgrounds, about Carlyle’s different businesses as well as creating networking opportunities that might be absent otherwise due to differences in alumni composition.

I also co-founded Cornell Financial Analysts, an on-campus business organization dedicated to helping students, with a focus on those that are diverse, enter financial services whether it being through internships or full-time job opportunities. This organization continues today, some years after I graduated -- I continue to be involved.

I hope that through this website that is free of charge, you are able to gain a better understanding of the private equity recruitment process. If you have any questions about this website, The Carlyle Collegiate Series, or anything related to recruitment, please feel free to email me below.

I also encourage you all to check out the non-profit, KnownTern, an organization helping underrepresented undergraduate students become aware of career opportunities through the diversity programs offered by companies. It is your go-to resource to find out which firms offer diversity programs, the respective program application details, as well as deadlines. They are a partner of RoadToShow, assisting in the distribution of this website resource at scale.

I am always looking to extend a hand and talk through specific recruiting questions, having been in the exact same shoes. Do not hesitate to reach out!
